For my final ISIW task, I'm going to analyse a concept artist and their work, whilst also trying my best to imitate their style of work on my own.
Élodie Vidal is a concept artist who does amazing work using digital media. The genre of these paintings range from realistic photogenic scenarios to fantasy imagery and video game settings. I will be focusing on her art pieces set within the world of both Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the Nintendo 3DS and the new and highly anticipated Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch.

The environments are bright and whimsical and portray the many scenarios one might see and do whilst playing Animal Crossing games. Trees, rivers and houses ever present along with the inhabitants which are anthropomorphic animals of many varieties from Pigs to Alligators as well as Ostriches like shown in the example

The tone of everything is very warm and happy. The browns and greens and oranges help defy this warmth and also help link everything very close to nature. Alternatively, she also very nicely uses blacks, greys and blues to help indicate cold too, given this is a game that lives by your system clock, seasons change all the time and it is demonstrated very well within this collection.
Here are some colour wheels of each piece in this blog to help highlight that.

Given I'm aware that the nature of the game is extremely peaceful, I can safely say that any random viewer of the artwork would a get a great indication that this is the case thanks to the artist's good application. There is no action, or huge centerpiece such as a titan or skyscraper nor is there any 1 or 2 point perspective examples be found. This information really helps within the world building of all of these artworks as the game is very non-linear and there is no real objective to the games outside of enjoying your life and the artworks demonstrate that very well.

Here is my attempt at a recreation of something in her style, I decided to do a tree because it's a common asset in the game and have seen them a lot. Here it is, my art skills aren't the best but I think I did well with this one.

Here is a copy with some rough shading on it.

This is what I was trying to recreate for reference.
