~Animation Skills (Bouncing Ball Animation Rig and 2d Animation)~

This project consisted of downloading an already rigged sphere and giving it life by making it appear to be bouncing through stretching and squashing the object.

The project had to be roughly around 3 seconds so I decided it would be smart to aim for 10 frames per second, as a result of this I considered the following, 3 very similar actions to create a sequence with each being roughly a second (10 frames) long.

In order to simply do this I decided to create 3 platforms which would all follow a similar second long jump ranging from a neutral to neutral beginning and end.

The ball itself consists of different rigs to manipulate different parts of it.

I started out by doing the main keys which are the 3 points in which the ball will be on one of the objects. To do this I'd select the frame on the timeline, move it to where I wanted it to be and then press the 'S' key to set that frame into place. All of the frames in between these key frames will follow the movement pattern that has now been set.

After this I wanted to create the first part to creating an illusion of bouncing. To do this I set the frames in between the key frames to be high up in the air. Now the animation would follow a simple up / down pattern to make it look like jumping.

To finish the animation I carefully manipulated the top and bottom green rigs (see above) in order to create a squash and stretch pattern to make it seem very realistic.

Main ball placement keys.

Final animation without rigs.

After this it was time to create a 2d animation. Now because I am not a very good drawer I decided to rotoscope a front facing view of my already made 3d animation.

I have done rotoscoping before so I understood the process very well and completed it fairly quickly.

Final 2d animation.

This project was a good and simple introduction into what will later become a very important aspect of the course becuase there will always be a requirement for 3D animation no matter where you are and it ranges from the likes of cutscenes to simple idle animations.
