For this mini project I was tasked to texture a high-poly mesh, a project which could be considered a large step up from the wooden crate project.

I created a mood board because I wanted to ensure I had good references when texturing the model.

This is the very detailed model I will be texturing. It's UVs have been already been layed out correctly so it was just a matter of getting the UV snapshot into photoshop and texturing it there.
Here are the UVs and the UV snapshot.

Now the UV snapshot is in Photoshop. To identify what parts were what I used the UV Shell selector in Maya and used that to paint the UV snapshot. I went with a straw hat for extra effect.

Here is the final painted UV's to get them into Maya I had to assign the model a new material and go to base colour -> file and choose the image above.

Here is the final textured model, it was pretty much a sucsess but with more time I'd add a differant colour hat buckle and smaller details like skin shading and earings. I'd also make the iris smaller. I did however get a lot more comfortable with the ins and outs of texturing inside of Photoshop.
