With Sam, we used both Maya 2018 and Adobe Photoshop to create our first in game asset, a wooden crate.
We started by starting up Maya and generating and resizing a cube to fit the real world size of the crate we will be creating.
Once we had done this we changed the workspace from 'Maya Classic' to 'UV Editing'. By doing this we would receive a 2D net of the shape we are working with. This would allow us to take that into Photoshop, create our own textures in which we could then place accordingly and import it back into Maya 2018 to be granted with a fully textured object.

Using the chosen crate texture, I was able to fit copies of it into the UV.

Once this was complete, I imported the new UV Texture map into Maya and placed it over the plain cube.
