PEGI is a self regulatory age rating system, which all content providers across the EU have to follow by in order to get their game sold through singing up to their code of conduct. NICAM and the UK’s Video Standards Council independently review and monitor submissions. The PEGI system itself is also overseen by a number of independent bodies. The PEGI age rating system was adopted in 2003.
