~Core Principles of Game Design (Player Interaction Patterns)~

When designing a game, you should tailor it to a certain few Player Interaction Patterns to keep gameplay consistent.

Single Player VS Game:

Involves one player playing against the game, an example of this might be a solo campaign mode.

Multiple Individual Players VS Game:

Involves many players all individually playing through the game, an example is Bingo.

Player VS Player:

Involves one player playing directly against another, a shooter 1 on 1 is an example.

Multilateral Competition:

Involves Player VS Player elements but your competition is never truly set in stone, you choose who to see as an enemy at your own will. MMO style games might follow this pattern.

Unilateral Competition:

One player against more then one player, the juggernaut gamemode in older COD games followed this pattern.

Cooperative Play:

More then one player going up against the game, Team Campaigns follow this pattern.

Team Competition:

Teams facing teams, Team Deathmatch style games follow this pattern.
