I'll be discussing ten games and their objectives, alongside what makes their game unique to the genre.
Pokémon Black/White - Become the champion of Unova and beat team Plasma. For an RPG this seems like a very basic and stereotyped objective for such a genre but Game Freak makes it work in a unique way with the many creatures you can catch a battle with.
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate - Smash opponents off a screen like any other fighter game alongside twists such as many items and a multitude of stages.
Undertale - Explore the underground and break the barrier with the human souls. Assets such as the characters you meet and other things such as the story make this game very unique.
Deltarune - Explore the dark realm and seal the dark fountain to restore balance with light and dark. This a sequel type game to Undertale and remains the same in a lot of ways but changes it up with the addition of a differant battle UI.
Tetris 99 - Be the last one standing against 99 other players in individual games of Tetris. Other objectives such as your bog-standard regular game of Tetris can be found in paid DLC.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Be first in a race or 4 race grand prix. This is differant to other racers becuase of the charm Nintendo put into it alongside items and vehichle customisation.
Cuphead - Beat bosses and earn their soul contracts for the Devil. Alongside a well thought out storyline you are also gifted by 1930's visuals.
The legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Re-awaken the divine beasts and usen them to defeat Calamity Ganon. Although it follows a similar concept to other Zelda games, it's definately set asside by it's open world and open choice style.
Splatoon 2 - Cover the turf with your colour of ink, the most covered colour wins. Everything about this game, from the squid like characters to the unique weapons sets this asside from any other shooting game.
Punch Out - Work your way up to the title of champion by beating your competitors in boxing matches. The cocnept of this game sets it asside from other's in the arcade gaming genre.
